This is a pretty obvious parody of the Olympic Rings, and "Dare to Dream" is actually the slogan of the 1984 summer games in Los Angeles. I used this motif to draw a parallel between the equality that is the goal of the LGBT movement, and the equal opportunity that all Olympic contestants are given.
EDIT: I forgot to mention this when I originally posted this, but the black symbol in the center is used to represent transgendered individuals.
Love the background and the clean cut approach with the Olympic logo made from the various logos of the movment. its very clear and very direct. good job
ReplyDeleteI agree with the previous commentator but I feel that maybe your message could have been expressed even deeper with faces representing the LGBT community within the circles.
ReplyDeleteI like it. Does the middle logo with the male/Female arrow to the upper left mean anything to the general public? If not, a lot of people are going to ask themselves "what does it mean, what do I not understand?". If it doesn't mean anything maybe the middle logo should just be a combination of the male and female logos.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the confusion about the middle symbol. I was going to add that in when a friend brought up that he didn't recognize it.
ReplyDeleteEither way, the original post has been edited to explain that the black symbol in the middle is used to represent transgender people.
Hi Adam,
ReplyDeleteWhat stood out to me first is the great use of color - I like the varying blues of the sky. Next is the crispness of your images. Your use of the gender symbols works well with the olympic rings and I like your message. To me it implies that in terms of equality, the sky is the limit and that someday every person, whether or not they are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, will not matter. They will be treated fairly and equally and rise as far as they choose to. I like your choice of font, that it is italicized works well - a hopeful slant.
I think you’ve balanced the elements of images, font and color well and that it makes for a visually pleasing poster.
You've brought about a point that no one else has and i think its great. I love that you were taking a common symbol that almost everyone knows and turned it into something different to send a very powerful message!
